I am afraid that there is no such a short cut. You just have to keep practicing. It is not like preparing for your Tofel or GRE exams which you might find some short way.

completely understandable. When I was in my graudate program, I also learnt one year of Russian and one year of French. I actually could read academic papers in French at that time. But I forgot all of them after I started to work in industries since I have never used them
