TMG EV P002 sets a new Nurburgring lap record
Posted a time of 7:22:329 Toyota has announced the TMG EV P002 has set a new electric vehicle lap record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Driven by Jochen Krumbach, the high-performance roadster was able to complete the 20.8 km (12.9 mile) long course in just 7 minutes and 22:329 seconds. This beat the previous record, set by the TMG EV P001, by approximately 25 seconds. According to TMG's General Manager of Electrics and Electronics, Ludwig Zeller, "Since our Nürburgring record last year, we have developed our electric powertrain to deliver more power, more consistently, over a longer distance by managing the temperature of batteries, motors and inverter. Pikes Peak was a clear illustration of the improvements and we have now reinforced that at the Nürburgring."As we have previously reported, the EV P002 features a 42 kWh lithium-ceramic battery and two electric motors that develop a combined output of 476 PS (350 kW / 469 hp) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the model to hit a top speed of 255 km/h (158 mph). |
