I am a new-comer,  joining the English time last week. I am very interested in English and I hope to speak it freely with my friends through QQ .My English level is very poor  now. I have been working for four years and after (since i )ÎÄ×Ö graduated from university.  Since I don¡¯t use  English at work,  I forget lots of English words . Nowadays when chatting with friends in English , I don¡¯t recall many words .
     I think maybe there are a lot of grammar mistakes in these sentences and I hope you will point out

     why did you write that the same as what i  said?  i don't think we are in the same age and join work in the same year .and the english level of our is in the same poor.if it is  so,that is really incredible.

check all the english corners.  you should be able to find one suitable for your need.  you can get online and chat with me too.  i stay online almost all the time unless i step out of my office.  nice to meet you then. hope you enjoy learning english and make quick improvement

there are several english corners here in town.  i believe you will get your chance to talk and share.  but from my own experience, it is better for you to listen to those english conversation tapes or cds.  based on  your writing, i don't think you will not be able to do this.

i was asked to provide a site for reading exercises.  i happened to use one for my students. http://interviewwithgod.com/  in this site you can get many beautiful flash slides with wonderful melodies played and meaningful sentences displayed.  the reading speed of those is for novice level students.

in language leraning, we use three levels to describe students' capacities:

novice: beginning level: 1st and 2nd level in using english

intermediate: middle level: 3rd and 4th level in using english

advanced: high level: 5th and above level in using english

in learning english as a second language, one needs to know at least about 3,000 words and to spend about 300 classroom hours so as to master english to third level: to speak, to write meaningful sentences and paragraphs.  this statistics is provided by the us board of education, foreign language dept.

i was questioned by some people with english profrssions about the listening, speaking, reading, writing sequence in english learning.  this mentioned order is for mother language learners only.  for second language learners, the order is reading, writing, listening, and speaking.  remember! one has to have meaningful inputs in order for him/her to have meaningful outputs.  if you don't know what you are reading and listening, you must stop and make a change!

i am also asked by many about the skills for vocabulary reciting.  here are 2 suggestions:

1. learning new words in groups is a very useful way.  i called mine octopus learning: with a word in the center as the body and put 8 words related to it as the legs.  so everytime i have chances to see 9 words in a picture and which are all related.

2. sometimes i see people memorize a lot of vocabularies from the tofel, or cet-4 vocabulary lists or dictionaries.  try to start from q, x,  or z.  to build up your interest and confidence is very important at this stage.
